Matthew McKenna
President and Systems Engineer

As Semaphoric Smart Homes' President, Systems Engineer and the company's founder, Matthew McKenna is responsible for setting the organization's technology vision and guiding the development of advanced, technically superior home automation and audio\video solutions that are also practical, affordable and simple to use.

Matthew brings more than 12 years of technology and Audio\Video electronics experience to Semaphoric Smart Homes. He holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering with Distinction from the University of Nebraska. While working towards his degree he worked as a First Class MECP certified mobile electronics installer for one of the largest mobile and home electronics retailers in the country. He also held positions in Information Technology as a Network Technician and eventually became the Information Systems Manager with one of fastest growing Healthcare Staffing firms in the Country with over 1000 employees and branch offices all over the Midwest. After graduating he took a position with Compaq/HP Telecommunications as a Software Engineer and worked on the development of the UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) 3G HLR (Home Location Register), which featured the merger of GSM and GPRS systems that are deployed worldwide with some of the worlds largest wireless carriers. After working for two years as a software engineer he relocated to Orlando, Florida and took a position in a small but fast growing staffing firm as their Chief Information Officer. There he oversaw all operations as the company quickly grew from 8 employees to over 80. That position would lead into the development of Semaphoric Smart Homes.

Since founding Semaphoric Smart Homes Matthew continues his quest for further education and has since acquired the following certifications:

The proud father of a five year old son and three year old daughter, Matthew is a actively involved member of the the United States Junior Chamber, is certified in Sail and Power Boating by USPS the United States Power Squadrons , a former First Class Certified Mobile Electronics Installer with MECP the Mobile Electronics Certification Program, a CompTIA IT-Pro member, a member of ACM, the Association of Computing Machinery, and a 12 year member of IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He is currently a member of the IEEE Computer Society and Consumer Electronics Society.
